What is the million-dollar question? “What do I require to succeed?”
This is a question I get asked by beauty professionals and estheticians every day. Actually, if I had one dollar for every occasion I’ve been asked this question, I’d have one million dollars!
It is crucial to understand that success is more than executing a perfect technique.
Here are some suggestions I think will assist every esthetician to achieve success.
1. Engage effectively with customers.
On the first meeting with customers, Be friendly with clients – yes, it’s that easy! Smile, smile, and be optimistic! This will let your clients know that your clients who are customers are your top priority.
Always remain clear as well as thorough and confident throughout the entirety of your interaction with your client.
Avoid using words like “you are aware of” as well as “like” in your communication. It is okay to use these terms in your everyday conversations however when you are communicating with your client, these words are not a sign of confidence or professionalism.
Communicating effectively may seem simple to you, but for professionals in the service industry, effective communication is vital.
Remember, you have only one chance to create the first impression. And bad impressions lead to low customer retention.
2. Learn how to sell.
You may offer the finest massages or facials, but an experienced esthetician is also able to market themselves retail.
The art of recommending is very simple: don’t sell instead, inform. Be informed and educate your clients about WHY they require the products and how the products will be able to aid their skin.
Always inquire about clients’ concerns and suggest products that help their skin and bring instantly noticeable results.
Keep in mind that clients come to get expert treatment to enhance their appearance. Incorrectly treating their skin during their treatment time can mean the client’s skin will be affected in the end!
3. Keep it Professional.
Look the part, act like you are Make sure that your work environment conveys the right message!
Hair pulled back and an uncluttered lab coat, modest jewelry, no visible body piercings and manicured, short nails reflect professionalism.
If you wish to be regarded and treated as a professional and progress within your profession, the following elements of professionalism have to be upheld.
4. Set goals.
What do you hope to achieve in your professional life? What kind of environment do you wish to be in? What do you hope to be in five years?
Think about these types of questions. Then, write down your goals. They must be specific and quantifiable. If you want to earn more money over the next five years, what would you like to make?
The goals I set for myself were to grow my client base & keep positive relationships with them, help them grow their businesses, and educate them as best I can.
5. Continue to learn.
The moment you believe you have it all figured out can be when you quit advancing in your professional career. I would advise you not to be a victim of this trap. Do not be a slave to your own habits and think that you’re at the top of the line. Always educate yourself!
Take a look at trade magazines for professionals to keep track of what’s going on in the business Also, read the newspapers to keep track of what’s happening outside of your sector, since external influences can have an impact on your company and help you become cutting edge, maybe even change the industry!
Learn from the best classes, such as online webinars for free, and visit esthetic tradeshows to meet and gain insight from industry experts.
I have a strong belief in education. Education and curiosity simply expand your reach and helps you connect with more people. Let us know if we can help you with any of our technology options and how to best incorporate it into your business today!
